Of all the wonders of nature, a tree in summer is perhaps the most remarkable; with the possible exception of a moose singing "Embraceable You" in spats. -Woody Allen-

Bloggers Block

It seems I have bloggers block which is just what it sounds like, writers block effecting bloggers. I do have some ideas but they are not ready for prime time. I am working on an article entitled, Retasking – How to Adapt a Goal Driven Life After 50, but I have to do some more research before I can finish it. I thought about writing on the emotion I hate most, which is regret, but the last few posts have been maudlin enough. There is also a review of a book I will be writing in the future, Lincoln's Melancholy: How Depression Challenged a President and Fueled His Greatness by Joshua Wolf Shenk, but I have written enough about depression at the moment.

So I have run into bloggers block. I was surpised to find this is actually a term used for writers block inflicting bloggers. There are a number of web sites that have ways to battle bloggers block. ProBlogger has 25 tips for unblocking blogger block.. Then there is LifeClever that has ten tips and Blogger Buzz which has a daily prompt in the form of a question for you to answer to help spur ideas.

Here are my questions – Do you get Bloggers Block? And what do you do to get unblocked?

  1. I do a variety of different things to stave off blogger's block. It helps to have a loose theme for my blog so that when I get really stuck I can ask myself a specific question. (What other things did no one tell you, etc)

I also blog on regular days so that my output isn't dependent on how many ideas I have. Like putting up a post a day for a week and then nothing for five days. It helps to spread out the ideas.

I don't always try to blog the same thing. Mondays are short days--quotes, funny clips, questions, etc. I try to review every new book I read, which gives me a backlog of books waiting to be reviewed, so I can always do that.

    Hope this helps!
